Syrian Nuclear Weapons Plant

It's fairly clear that the Syrians were building a nuclear weapons plant. It was the Syrian reaction to the Israeli bombing that were the strongest indicators to me. Not just the lack of outrage, but the bulldozing of the site and building on top of it.

I recommend the post by Professor Foland at EmptyWheel's blog.

If there's one thing I've learned over the course of this Administration, it's that if Dana Perino one day announces that the sky is blue, I will be forced to assume that an alien invasion has commenced with the total ionization of Earth's upper atmosphere.

With that in mind, there's an awful lot of cognitive dissonance for me in analyzing the evidence on the raid (apparently named "Operation Orchard" by the Israelis) on a Syrian desert site (apparently named "Al-Kibar"). Having started my own blog motivated by "the incredible amount of lies & hyperbole on the Iran situation of early 2006", I don't find it easy to accept anything this Administration puts forth as evidence. I'm having all this difficulty because the pictures they showed last Thursday are clearly pictures of a nuclear reactor. --Syriana

He is fairly well convinced also. There is some argument for people who live in a resource free environment needing nuclear power, but a weapons plant next to Israel is not happening.

The North Korean connection is much, much weaker tea. I suppose we will hear next that the Iranians helped them in some way. Oh and that Sadr guy, and Pelosi!

Syrian Nuclear Weapons Plant

I wasn’t sold on the fact that the Israelis hit a Syria nuclear site. I thought maybe it was either an intelligence fuckup, which happens more than you imagine, remember the Chinese embassy in Belgrade? Or just a warning from the Israelis. But we are getting some satellite photos now and the Syrians have basically wiped the site clean. They went in with bulldozers and graders. Here are the before and after shots.

Why did they obliterate all the evidence? I am still not sold 100% but I damn sure am leaning in that direction. I wish the CIA didn’t have to rebuild its covert nuclear proliferation network in the Middle East.

Sen. Lieberman, complete asshat

Here is the very serious© Joe Lieberman shaking his puny flaccid sword at Syria. Threatening to kick their ass for letting in the thousands and thousands of Al Qaeda suiciders...

Al Qaedas Travel Agent (WSJ)

Now the Damascus airport is the point of entry into Iraq for most of the suicide bombers who are killing innocent Iraqi citizens and American soldiers, and trying to break America's will in this war. It is therefore time to demand that the Syrian regime stop playing travel agent for al Qaeda in Iraq.

When Congress reconvenes next month, we should set aside whatever differences divide us on Iraq and send a clear and unambiguous message to the Syrian regime, as we did last month to the Iranian regime, that the transit of al Qaeda suicide bombers through Syria on their way to Iraq is completely unacceptable, and it must stop.

We in the U.S. government should also begin developing a range of options to consider taking against Damascus International, unless the Syrian government takes appropriate action, and soon.

Lets revisit the actual intelligence here.

We see the actual number of suicide bombers in Iraq since the war began from Syria, is 8.

Thanks to asshat Joe Lieberman we have one massive disaster in the middle east, why doesnt he just keep his trap shut from now on.

I am really looking forward to when Rupert Murdoch completes his purchase of the WSJ. oy vey.
