It Ain't Over Till the Fat Lady Sings... but...

she might be warming up.

The New Republic makes some excellent points about the demise of Brand McCain.

Republicans and Democrats have been arguing over the proper role of government for a century. In 1980 voters sided with Ronald Reagan and Republicans that government had become too big and intrusive. Then the economy worked in the Republicans' favor. Today the pendulum has swung in our direction. Republican philosophies have been discredited by events. Voters understand this. This is a big election about big issues. McCain's smallball will not work. This race will not be decided by lipsticked pigs. And John McCain can not escape that reality. The only unknowns are the size of the margin and the breadth of the Democratic advantage in the next Congress.
McCain has appeared at best erratic, at worst, dangerously flawed and out of touch. Not any sort of behavior that would engender trust in his leadership at a time when people are looking for a steady hand and a keen mind. At such a time, what does John McCain give us, clueless denial and Sarah Palin. All this, plus a promise of continuing the the policies of the last 8 years. Great.

No Rest for the Weary Yet, BUT Polling Puts Obama in the Lead; 52 to 43

As the economic crisis looms large voters are feeling more confident about Obama-Biden and less confident about McCain-Palin.

More voters trust Obama to deal with the economy, and he currently has a big edge as the candidate who is more in tune with the economic problems Americans now face. He also has a double-digit advantage on handling the current problems on Wall Street, and as a result, there has been a rise in his overall support. The poll found that, among likely voters, Obama now leads McCain by 52 percent to 43 percent. Two weeks ago, in the days immediately following the Republican National Convention, the race was essentially even, with McCain at 49 percent and Obama at 47 percent. -Washington Post ABC Polling

My overall reaction is "It's About Time!" Sheesh, I mean really, people. Get over your fears about race, and anger about sexism, and panic about terrorism-- and really imagine John McCain and Sarah Palin in charge of everything. The choice should be EASY!

And how is Caribou Barbie doing?
Over the past two weeks, the percentage of independents with favorable views of Palin dropped from 60 percent to 48 percent. Among independent women, the decline was particularly sharp, going from 65 percent to 43 percent. Her favorable rating among whites without college degrees remained largely steady, but among those with college degrees, it dropped nearly 20 percentage points.

Dropping like a stone, thank heavens!

Lady Elite de Rothschild Throws a "Press Pout"

BERTRAND GUAY/AFP/Getty Images

A week or so before the convention I wrote of my utter disgust about Lady Lynn and her GOP refurbished talking points.

Well she is at it again-- taking her cry fest to CNN and holding a "Press Pout." (I won't link to the drivel here as I have no desire to give her stupid-ness any web traffic)

I was mad, I was going to write about it and shake my fists at the gods. But then the brilliant David (get your war on) Rees posted this on Huffpo about Lady Fancy Pants. And suddenly I feel much better.

My favorite part is this;

(As an Obama supporter, I would humbly request that Ladyboo Lynn de Forester von Chili Con Carne travel around the country, greeting voters and announcing that she doesn't like Barack Obama. Please don't forget to wear one of those floofy, flouncey scarves that you can buy at the MoMA store, and also please don't forget to sneer at everyone. May I also request that you wear all your jewels at once?)

I'm sure Obama will lose a lot of sleep over this. I know he was craving the endorsement. After all, we're talking about Lassie Lynn de von Forester d'el der McRothschild von de Beers VIII, the type of lady every American can relate to and wants to be friends with and definitely doesn't laugh at as soon as she turns her back (to check on her portfolio of private planets she owns).
She is a piece of work. She is actively undermining everything her beloved candidate stood for. What a pathetic stance to take after being a democrat for so many years. feh. I am done wasting my time on her. She is mostly mad that raising 100,000 dollars for Hillary as a Hillraiser is really not going to get her anywhere in the next 4 years. Hope she and McPalin have a nice love fest over the next week.

Note that the photo above was taken at a Women's Forum, I am sure there will be lots of real effort on women's issues if McCain wins.

Thanks, Lady Lynn.

Yeah you are right, Obama is too elitist (not). Now get back in your private jet and head on over to the McCain's for BBQ'd civil liberties with American-fake-values on the side.

Back to getting out the vote.

Truthiness and Pinocchio Politics

Street art meets political action. Folks over at Pinocchio Politics are starting a campaign to encourage activists and voters, esp. in swing states, to make a statement of their own in answer to campaign stump speech lies from McPalin. This kind of creative action instills a lasting visual memory in voters. I am hoping they will add a photo gallery to their site if this takes off. Yes, it can get a little gimmicky, but in 04 the RNC was very effective with their props. Might not be a bad strategy to fight fire with fire.

from the site;

Welcome to Pinocchio Politics. This site was created to help average hardworking Americas who are sick of politicians lying to get elected. To help put the spotlight on the McCain/Palin campaigns repeated lying we need you to show up at every single McCain/Palin event wearing Pinocchio Noses.

In 2004 the Republicans were able to successful label John Kerry as a flip-flopper and one of the tools they used was to bring Flip-Flops to his rally's We can do the same to McCain.

Here's how it works.

Step One: Find out when the next McCain or Palin event is near you. If there are none near where you live see if you have any friend near one and tell them about this site.

Step Two: Get yourself a Pinocchio Nose. (See links below or go to your local Halloween Store)

Step Three: Keep your nose hidden until you actually get into the Event .

Step Four: As soon as they start talking put on your nose. If they bring up the bridge to nowhere or other lies start shouting "Liar, Liar"

Its that simple. And remember to have fun.
We are not recommending any specific shop but here are a few we found to get you started.

Obama Campaign Hits Back Hard

After weeks of negative, distorting ads from McCain and The GOP-- the McCain campaign is now complaining (whining) about Obama and Biden's new ads about lobbyists and other McSame policies.

Response to McCain’s Attacks- Yesterday, Obama spokesperson Bill Burton said, “We will take no lectures from John McCain who is cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern Presidential campaign history. His discredited ads with disgusting lies are running all over the country today. He runs a campaign not worthy of the office he is seeking.

Bush and McCain, B.F.F.

McSame a card carrying member of the GW 90% club. Best Friends Forever.

Tonight, George Bush enthusiastically passed the torch to the man who's earned it by voting with him 90% of the time, and who will continue this President's legacy for the next four years – his disastrous economic policies, his foreign policy that hasn't made us safer, and his misguided war in Iraq that's costing us $10 billion a month. The man George Bush needs may be John McCain, but the change America needs is Barack Obama, said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe.
