RIP Madelyn Dunham, Sen. Barack Obama's Grandmother
Madelyn Dunham age 86 has died. Madelyn as we know was a major part of Barack's life. I am sure she was proud of him and I know she knew how much he, Michelle and his great granddaughters loved her. (For Barack's sake I was so hoping that this news would not come until after 11/4 as I am sure he wanted her to be a part of this important day in his life.)
Our sympathies to the Obama and Dunham families.
Many groups around the world are encouraging people to wear black today in a show of sympathy and solidarity for Barack.

Sen. Obama's Grandmother Gravely Ill
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Democrat Barack Obama is cancelling nearly all his campaign events Thursday and Friday to fly to Hawaii to visit his suddenly ill 86-year-old grandmother. Campaign spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters Monday that Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, was released from the hospital late last week. But he says her health has deteriorated to the point where her situation is very serious. We send our best wishes for Madelyn Dunham's health and our support for the entire family. This must be a very difficult moment for everyone. There's more...
Gibbs said Obama would return to the campaign trail on Saturday, though he was unsure where. Obama events originally planned for Madison, Wis., and Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday will be replaced with one in Indianapolis before he makes the long flight to Hawaii. Washington Post
