Wide Open Steppes for you, Yang

Yang the Nauseating, co-founder of the Great Dark Horde, has passed from this world to the Great Steppe of the next.

Known mundanely as Robert Lynn Asprin, Yang died peacefully in his yurt in New Orleans.

I have read much of Asprin's work (especially his MythAdventures series, which I heartily recommend), but never met him. My best memory of him, however, is a story widely told by the Dark Horde in Wisconsin in the early '80s. Yang and another member of the horde disagreed about who was carrying the most steel. After each removing 17 sharp objects from various locations around their clothing and bodies, Yang ran his fingers through his hair and extracted the 18th (and winning) blade.

Alas.
